Uniswap developer and FrensTech deployer AzFlin is facing allegations of rug-pulling 14 ETH, worth $26,000, from the FrensTech project on Base just four hours after launch. However, the developer has refuted the claims and asserted that he only removed 1 ETH liquidity that he had initially contributed to the project.

FrensTech project rug-pulled on Base

According to UniswapVillain, the user who initially discovered the rug pull, they could track and identify AzFlin by analyzing the number of employees from Uniswap that followed the project on X. The user explained that AzFlin removed the ETH from the Base network using HOP and had already sold the crypto. UniSwapVillain also highlighted that it was “wild” for him that AzFil, who is doxxed and worked for Uniswap, would engage in a rug pull.

AzFlin denied the allegation but mentioned that he only removed 1 ETH from the liquidity, which had initially come from his developer wallet. He called the allegation a FUD, saying that he bought FRENS with his money and was entitled to do as he wished.

Several crypto community members are asking for Uniswap to take action. Others highlighted an earlier post that was later deleted, where he posted a question on if team members selling coins was considered a rug.

Base’s numbers are climbing fast

According to the data by Dune Analytics on August 10, there was a notable surge in daily users, surpassing 136,000 individuals. That marked a significant peak in usage since the platform’s inception, coinciding with its public release’s second day. On that particular day, around 30% of the users were new Base users, totaling almost 42,000, although the previous high was recorded at over 60,000 on July 31.

Base was initially introduced in its beta version on February 23. Following its announcement, there was speculation within the cryptocurrency community about the potential of the platform to facilitate the integration of more users into web3 protocols, leveraging the extensive user base of Coinbase. While the mainnet version geared towards “builders” was launched on July 13, the team cautioned that it was unprepared for general user access.
